SOLD - Vintage 1988 16ft Casita Heritage Deluxe - $10,000 - Longmont, CO

We are selling our vintage 1988 Casita Travel Trailer. We drove this sweet little camper from Colorado to Connecticut and back again this year. (We lived in it for 3 months while we conducted fieldwork for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy and University of Connecticut). It has treated us well and we’re sad to see it go, but we’re moving to Seattle in 2 weeks and we can’t take it with us.

This camper is extremely lightweight (the title says it weighs 900 lbs, though we would guess it weighs slightly more). We towed it with a 2003 4Runner without any issues and it could certainly be towed by something smaller, including some sedans. It’s a great option for keeping your gas mileage low while still having some of the comforts of home! When unhitching and hitching, we were able to lift the front with bare hands to get it into a better position. (This isn’t at all necessary for setting up as it has a crank, it was just nice to be able to move it a bit without hitching it back up!) It is a fiberglass camper, which helps with both the weight and keeping rain and weather out. It has new tires that were installed in July.

The living area has fully carpeted walls and features a couch and dining booth all with original cushions in good condition. The dining table collapses down and the booth cushions fold out to make a bed suitable for one or two people. The two couch cushions can also form two narrow single beds. I believe the back cusion may have been used as a bunk bed before, but I’m unsure how the bunk is/was formed. There is a small sink, a mini fridge, and a 2 burner gas stove. The sink and stove both have covers which extend counter space and keep things from moving around while driving. There is a large wardrobe by the door, cabinets above the refrigerator, sink, and stove, a narrow cabinet above the dining area, and two floor cabinets - one below the sink and stove, and the other under the couch. There is a fan above the stove and a central fan in the ceiling of the living area that is great at circulating air and keeping it cool. We are also including a small space heater/fan combo that we used in May to keep things warmer. This worked really quickly and made the camper feel cozy and homey. (Bonus - I also used it a couple times to dry clothes.)

It also has a small wet room, which we have installed a new toilet in, a shower, and a small corner sink. There is a window in the bathroom that opens for extra ventilation and light. All of the windows throught the trailer open with the exception of the large window at the rear of the camper.

This camper has been great to us and is ready for more adventures this year and years to come. It is a 1988 and, naturally, could use a little love. It would be great for someone interested in using it immediately and then maybe doing some updates/remodeling over the cooler months. Some people gut these things, but we love the unique aesthetic it has. Some recommendations we have for the future include: redoing the floor, installing a new microwave/toaster oven, securing some of the metal under the couch and around the mini fridge that has gotten slightly stretched, installing a taller kitchen faucet.

Our asking price is: $10,000 obo
We have an anti-sway bar and hitch available for an additional $100
