SOLD - 1983 Burro 13ft - $5500 - Washington, DC

Selling a 1983 13ft Burro vintage fiberglass camper. Dry weight is about 900 pounds. Overall in very good condition for a vintage trailer even though it has some quirks which I will share more about.

The story: This is “Shelly”. I bought Shelly over three years ago and fixed her up so that I could take her on many adventures. She’s travelled all over: from Acadia National Park to New Orleans to all over the East Coast.

I bought Shelly from a man who bought it from the original owner, an elderly woman who didn’t take adequate care of it, so I’ve fixed it up quite a bit. There are two cracks in the front of the camper which has caused some damage to the one seat inside the front (see photos). The cracks are sealed and the camper is not leaking. If you are someone handy with fiberglass, it's something that can be fixed easily enough.

I replaced the subfloor two years ago and laid a new floor. I’ve also resealed the windows, replaced the ancient fridge with an icebox (so it’s very lightweight), and took out the original gas stove to make a countertop and extra storage. The icebox can be easily replaced with a fridge, that could be connected to gas or electric. The cushions are original but I put new outdoor fabric on them. The bed is a double size but can be turned into seats with a dinette. I also remodeled the cabinets and put new shelves for storage. There’s a few other cosmetic issues on the outside but overall the exterior is in good shape. A couple of the light covers are cracked and could be replaced but the lights and wiring work. The electric and wiring works inside (so you can hook it up) and there’s a water line connecting to the sink.

Towing this old lady is quite simple since she’s lightweight. I’ve pulled her with both a 1998 and 2007 Toyota RAV4 for thousands of miles.

I’m selling Shelly because I moved into an apartment and don’t have a good place to park her. I’m asking for $5,500 or best offer. Has a title. Buyer will be responsible for towing or shipping. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a showing.

Hope this old lady will find the adventurous home she deserves. (She’s willing to be renamed :) ).
