Craigslist Fiberglass RV Scams
About once a month we see a series of ads launched, usually blanketing the country, on Craigslist.
They usually feature a late model Casita for around $5000.
Remember the caveat: "If it sounds too good to be true it usually is."
Normally, they ask you to contact them by email and you will get a response that the trailer is being held at a shipper and they are out of the country or state. All you have to do is wire the money to the shipper and they will ship the trailer to you. Of course the shipper is a front, complete with fake website and you'll never get granted access to physically see the trailer even if you're local to where they say the shipper is.
The pictures they use in the ads are gleaned from other listings of fiberglass trailers.
Our research team catches most of these across the country when they launch and we do flag them although it takes a bit of time for them to disappear from Craigslist.
If you ever have a question about the authenticity of a listing please feel free to email us at:
Our listings are scrubbed by our researchers and we make attempts to contact all sellers and verify the listings posted here to protect you. But as always: Buyer beware! Use caution.
Seller Testimonials:
"Just wanted to let you know that we sold our Casita this morning. Also wanted to let you know that we had the Casita listed on Craigslist, Casita Club and your website. 90 percent of the calls we received came from your website and the new owner spotted it on your website. Keep up the good work and thanks again."
