Possible Scam
I called and spoken to this man several times about this camper. He said he is from Rockford Illinois with a new business in the Seattle area, and the Scamp is now located in Everett Washington.
Tonight I asked him for a specific location where it can be seen as I was sending a friend from Seattle to look at it for me. He said he "raised the price and relisted it on craigslist and has some one coming to look at it tonight and I could call tomorrow to see if it is still for sale. He would not give an address. I checked craigslist and could not find it listed there under Chicago or Seattle.
Buyer Beware
Editors note: Use caution, Tom... We've been following a string of ads that this person has had posted since Chicago on numerous trailers and he has various stories. So far we haven't heard that anyone has actually seen or bought one of his trailers and I'm doubtful myself that they exist. We've also never heard from him in response to several possible scam alerts that we've posted on his numerous and changing ads. The ad that he had up today was an exact copy (but for the photos) of the 16 Scamp ad that was listed today in Scottsville, VA. The Everett, WA persons ad was not deleted and relisted but flagged and removed by Craigslist users who recognize patterns of potential scammers. He has yet to repost anything on Craigslist as of this response.
Now there is always a possibility that this person is legit, but we've been tracking ads for a good number of years now and can pick up the scams with a good deal of accuracy. We don't want to see any of our buyers or sellers get caught in any scams or schemes and while there is no way for us to know with any certainty what is on the other side of these ads,(Our Disclaimer) everyone please use caution and common sense at all times in these transactions.
