Possible SCAM - Casitas in Ohio, NH, CT, NE, PA
This time of year as listing inventory slows down a number of questionable trailer listings will appear.
Example of a current ad on Craigslist 9/30/09:
"CASITA 17' LIBERTY DELUXE TRAVEL TRAILER - $5699 (Cincinnati)
Be prepared for a long list of features. Everything works.
Roof top air conditioner - Coleman Mach 3
Exterior door light
Built on bubble levels
Screened windows with mini blinds
Torsion suspension
Water heater upgrade w/electronic starter
City water connection
2 burner cook top
Safety chains
Furnace 16,000 BTU/thermostat"
Ways to identify the possible SCAM.
- A 17 Casita Liberty Deluxe late model won't sell for $5699. (Isn't that price funky) They use a dumb low price like that to pull you in
- This is the same pricing that a major Casita SCAM ring has run for a number of years
- No real contact information, just the Craigslist email
- If you contact them, you will most likely get some story about it being at a shipper and it will be shipped to you after payment.
- You won't get to see the actual trailer and title
