SOLD - 1972 Trail Mite Fiberglass Travel Trailer - $6,500 - Ojai, CA
1972 Fiberglass “Trail Mite”
This is a very rare and extremely light vintage fiberglass travel trailer that is very functional and fun to use. It’s similar to the Scamp & Burro but with a little more style. It has been custom painted and professionally pinstriped to match a 1950’s Mercury. The lower half is black and the upper half is the original cream colored fiberglass. The ultra cool pin stripping is black, ivory, and red/orange. The hubcaps are actual 50’s Mercury caps. The tongue, propane tank, and rear bumper have been repainted. The aluminum window frame on the door has been polished. The exterior looks great.
The interior has also been restored and looks very fresh. The rear dinette folds into a bed big enough to sleep 2 adults comfortably – even if you’re 6 ft tall. The front bench actual turns into a bunk bed that can sleep 2 kids. There is a propane stove top and an ice box. The cushions have been redone with high quality grey/black fabric. There’s way more storage than you would expect. I have it set up with a porta potty that tucks perfectly into a lower cupboard. The porta potty is not included (kinda personal) but you can get one anywhere.
You can plug this trailer in to land power or run it off the battery. The battery is very strong. You can hook up to water or use the storage tank. Everything works. The tires are new, wheel bearings have been repacked. I also have a good spare tire for it. Brake lights, running lights, and turn signals work. The wiring plug is a flat 4 but you can get an adaptor to anything. It is very easy to tow. It only weighs around 900 pounds and my 4 cylinder Honda Element pulls it easily.
The trailer has a clean California title in my name and the registration is up to date. I am only selling this because I’m in the process of restoring another travel trailer and I’m getting ready to move. The price is $6,500 or best offer.
